# vm\_map\_insert.9

`vm_map_insert` — 将一个对象插入到映射中

`vm_map_insert`

```c
#include <sys/param.h>
#include <vm/vm.h>
#include <vm/vm_map.h>
int
vm_map_insert(vm_map_t map, vm_object_t object, vm_ooffset_t offset,
    vm_offset_t start, vm_offset_t end, vm_prot_t prot,
    vm_prot_t max, int cow)
```

此函数通过调用内部函数 `vm_map_entry_create` 隐式创建一个新的 `vm_map_entry`。

`vm_map_insert` 函数在映射可以成功创建时返回 `KERN_SUCCESS`。

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://book.bsdcn.org/man/man9/vm_map_insert.9.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
