今年新机会的一个来源是 FreeBSD 的 Ports。它随着第三方软件和基本系统的变化而不断变化。Mateusz Piotrowski 讲解了贡献新 Port 的流程，Joseph Mingrone 则介绍了从 Subversion 迁移到 Git 之后，向 Ports 贡献变更的一些最佳实践。

CBSD 提供了在 FreeBSD 上管理 Jail 和 bhyve 虚拟机的框架。Oleg Ginzburg 提供了系列文章的第一篇，向用户介绍 CBSD 框架及其使用方法。同样，Tom Jones 介绍了用于创建 Jail 的新工具。

Kristoff Provost 描述了他持续维护 FreeBSD 上 pf 包过滤器移植版的又一篇章。
